The piece involved the live manipulation of found sound, samples, fm/am radio frequencies and broken beats using digital and analog mediums. Pan Sonic ‘Live’ (Xpace, Insomnia Café) (FEB 2001) Opening act as DJ Element; performed with turntables, fm/am broadband radio, cassette samples alongside a dance performance by George Chua. #: Pan Sonic are a pair from Finland. They are renowned for their droning, intense physicality of their minimal bleeps and tones. Past notorious performances includes as Ultra 3-10 hours of subjecting themselves to a gruelling sonic endurance test. Isolated in a small room, they underwent ten hours, without food or other sustenance, immersed in a blanketing low-frequency hum at a shattering 125 decibels. A residence at a South London arts venue-creating music in public for six hours a day, every day, for three weeks. Their sound is derived from customized tone generators and live minimal visuals. Sculpture Square (Passion Fruit) (JUNE 2000) Performed and mixed in soundscapes for Indera Tasripin, a butoh dance performer. If Worms Could Speak (A Worms Festival Production) (Sept 2000). A CD compilation recording of musicians and artist exploring art through sounds. Instruments such as the pipa, didgeridoo, acoustic guitar and the ocarina are recorded in the attic of PKW (CLub Street). Perfect 10's A-TRAX presents Localpallooza March 2001 @ Youth Park Performed a live solo set of own home produced materials as Carp3000 using turntables, computer, sampled spoken words with George Chua playing traditional Chinese flute adding and blending humanized melodies with electronic broken beats. This event was a public event with many more homegrown acts. EN-ROUTE, 18 November 2000 @ MT. Faber Performed as Carp3000 using computers and turntables for live sampling. This was a dance music event organised by Kinemat Productions. Carp3000/The Sleepwalker demo split CD This 14 track CD-R release is a joint effort between Carp3000 and The Sleepwalker. The CD was No.7 on Chris Ho's Hip Parade radio show on 98.7FM (March 2001 Ear Wax list) . 2 songs from the release was played on air on Hip Parade for 2 consecutive weeks. # The Sleepwalker is a local electronic music act. Specializing in making tracks with his Roland 303. He was also a part of the defunct local 'trip hop' band TOFU. |
